The wedding of Rebecca and Daniel began on a fresh November morning at Hotel Van Dyk where Rebecca and her bridal party were busy preparing for the amazing day ahead. There were no apparent nerves as everyone found a suitable space to apply make-up and sort hair as the room was full to bursting, but it only added to the excitement of the morning with an abundance of fun and laughter. The couple’s children were integral to the day, with Freddie and Rosie joining the morning’s preparations, along with Niece Brooke and friend Rosie.
Rebecca’s dress was exquisite, it wasn’t a colour you see very often, to describe it I would say it was a very pale taupe and absolutely beautiful with lace and crystal detail and a fitted bodice. This was further complimented with an elegant veil and stunning satin shoes with diamante detailing on the open toe. Rebecca’s flowers followed a neutral colour scheme with an abundant of cream flowers with lots of foliage. Stunning!
When I arrived Daniel and the boys were relaxing in the Blue Bell public house just across the road from the Church. However time was soon upon them and they made their way over the road to greet their guests who were starting to arrive for the ceremony.
Rebecca arrived promptly outside church to be greeted by her bridesmaids. Her Father looked on proudly as his daughter made her way into the church to become a married woman, This must be a very emotional and poignant time for all Fathers (or Mothers) who are faced with walking their children down the isle. I sometimes forget just how momentous a moment it actually is for them. Rebecca’s Father did an amazing job.
The ceremony was traditional in the stunning setting of Bolsover Parish Church. There were tears and laughter in equal measure from the guests who had joined the couple to witness their marriage vows. Immediately after the ceremony the guests were guided around the side of the church. The couple were unaware of the surprise awaiting them. Rebecca’s Mum had arranged for a pair of white doves to be released by the couple. It was a beautiful moment as they flew off into the sky.
It is only a short drive from the church to the beautiful wedding venue of Hotel Van Dyk, a very popular wedding venue and one that we work very regularly. There was time to capture a few shots with their vintage wedding car outside the hotel whilst guests were still arriving. The groups shots were completed as quickly as possible as the cold was apparent with it being the end of November, but Rebecca and Dan weren’t affected at all and were happy to spend time outside to capture some stunning couple shots, maybe the champagne helped?
After the wedding breakfast it was time for the speeches, as is usual Rebecca’s Father, Dan and his Best Man Phabien stood up to speak, but on this occasion there were also some special words from Marilyn, Rebecca’s Chief Bridesmaid and best friend, during the speech Rebecca was presented with a memory book containing images from her hen’s party in Marbella.
The evening celebrations commenced with the couple cutting the cake, followed with taking to the floor for their first dance. Entertainment for the evening was in many forms, including the fantastic Soul to Motion band who kept the dance floor full all night. There was also a special treat for the happy couple in the form of Rebecca’s childhood friend, the very talented Donna Ramsdale, who sang a few songs especially for them. As the evening was in full swing there was just enough time to head off with the couple for some night shots to end the perfect day.
Many congratulations to Daniel and Rebecca from Marie, Karl and the team at Photography for Life
